Where the bulk of NYC's bankers, lawyers, and other corporate workers show up every day — especially Park, Madison, & Fifth Ave. in the 50s.
Upper East Side (UES)
| uppereast | goCityKids |
Older, more affluent, and more conservative (some might say more sterile) side of uptown, flanked by cheaper matchbox apartments for recent graduates and others. Especially beautiful are madison and lexington in the 60s. and of course all the museums (the met, whitney, guggenheim, etc.).
Upper West Side (UWS)
| Lincoln Square BID | goCityKids | westside | Riverside Park |
Newer, less established, and generally more aesthetic (more trees and brownstones) side of uptown — especially the lincoln center area (65th & broadway) and the area around the natural history museum (77-81st & columbus).
Central Park
| centralpark | conservancy | shakespeare | summerstage |
Frederick Law Olmsted's magnificent gift to generations of NYers. My favorite spots include the boathouse, the carousel, belvedere castle, the mall, the sailing pond ('Conservatory Water' for model sailboat racing), and my favorite — the bridal path around the reservoir, on a horse from claremont.
