Upper West Side (UWS)
Older, more affluent, and more conservative (some might say more sterile) side of uptown, flanked by cheaper matchbox apartments for recent graduates and others. Especially beautiful are madison and lexington in the 60s. and of course all the museums (the met, whitney, guggenheim, etc.).

Frederick Law Olmsted's magnificent gift to generations of NYers. My favorite spots include the boathouse, the carousel, belvedere castle, the mall, the sailing pond ('Conservatory Water' for model sailboat racing), and my favorite — the bridal path around the reservoir, on a horse from claremont.
